RUN DMC, one of the most influential groups in global hip-hop culture, was founded in '83 by the trio Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniel and Jason Mizell. They were the first hip-hop singers to be nominated for Grammys and to have a video broadcast on MTV. Their legacy is unparalleled and their influence is still felt today.
Darryl McDaniels, stage name DMC, was one of two singers in the trio.
Joseph Simmons, stage name DJ RUN, was one of the trio's two singers.
Jason Mizell, stage name Jam Master Jay, was the trio's DJ.
